So happy to see this story in The Verge that Apple has been commissioning top music designers on the quiet to create beautiful images for Apple Music playlists.
As I wrote last month, the evolution and growth of digital music from the CD onwards has seen the decline and near-banishment of the visibility of music artwork. Once a glorious art form in its own right on LP sleeves, artwork is mostly nothing more than a postage stamp-sized image in the streaming world, if it even makes it through at all as most playlists don't have any space at all for an image for most tracks.
Now for the first time since the CD cut the real estate for music imagery by 85%, some seriously creative people are getting to grips with how to bring beautiful art back to music, a link should never have been broken in the first place
